As the Big Ten regular season approaches its end, Iowa baseball (32-15, 21-6 Big Ten) still receives votes in the most recent poll.
USA TODAY Sports Coach Poll
For the seventh straight week, as the program aims for its first conference regular-season championship since 1990.
Although Iowa’s progress has somewhat stalled recently following their loss to the stubborn Illini State in an additional midweek non-conference match at home and their defeat in their initial conference series of the year to Illinois State, things have taken a downturn.
Washington
In Seattle, Wash., they continue to hold a 2 1/2 game advantage at the top of the conference rankings.
However, the
Hawkeyes
‘With a 1-3 record over the past week, their vote count in the recent Coaches Poll has dropped. Iowa now secures only 19 votes, down from the 21 they received last week.’
Concerning the remainder of the Big Ten,
Oregon
is leading the pack this week at the No. 7 spot. The Ducks climbed three positions following a successful week where they secured a 3-1 record.
Following the Ducks is
UCLA
, securing the No. 17 position in this week’s rankings. The Bruins declined three spots from last week’s poll after losing two out of their three matches against their local rivals.
USC
to wrap up the week with a 1-3 record over the weekend.
Alongside Iowa, who received votes as well, is USC, garnering 25 votes this week. The Trojans move ahead of the Hawkeyes due to their weekly performance ending at a 3-1 record, notably boosted by winning against UCLA. This ranking positions USC above Iowa within the group of 13 additional teams that have also started gaining attention.
Iowa has a great chance to possibly enter next week’s Top 25 rankings when the Hawkeyes start their three-game weekend series against No. 11 Oregon State at Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday.
The first game of the series versus the Beavers is set to start at 6:35 p.m. CT.
The complete series will be available for streaming on
