If someone declines to participate, providing precisely what they requested could be the sole method to drive your message home.

If your former partner insisted on getting half of the children’s clothing, even though they haven’t paid child support and only see the kids once a week, how would you respond? Would you keep packing up the kids’ belongings as usual? Or would you end up giving him everything he requested, regardless of whether it still suits their needs?

In the
following story
, one woman faces this situation with her former spouse. Here’s how it unfolded.

Am I wrong if I give my ex-husband clothes for the kids that don’t fit them anymore?

About two years back, my former partner and I went our separate ways. We both co-parent a 12-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a 4-year-old, with me having primary custody. However, my ex gets the children every Friday from 4 PM until Saturday at 8 PM.

He provides no child support (owes a significant amount but simply refuses to pay), and I cover all expenses related to the children throughout the year, which includes school supplies/uniforms as well as costs for sports and extracurricular activities, among others.

Usually, when my ex collects the children from school on Fridays, he stops by my place to pick up the bags I’ve prepared. These contain pajamas, toothbrushes, clothing, and footwear for our kids’ stay with him. Then, upon dropping them back at my home after their weekend together, he leaves these same bags filled only with soiled uniforms and garments which require washing.

A few days ago, we got into a disagreement since I mentioned that he should purchase some clothing for the children at his place. This was after I expressed my frustration about constantly bringing over their belongings only to have to launder everything each time they visit him.

Now, he’s asking for half of their wardrobe.

He argues that since he purchased the children’s clothing and toys during our time together, and he did not claim anything when we split up, I should owe him half of what was spent on those items for the kids.

Therefore, I handed them over to him.

It’s not the clothing they currently possess, which I’ve provided over the past few months as they grew.

I provided him with half of the children’s clothing they wore during our separation. Therefore, the sizes 2, 5, and 10 garments, which I stored in the garage, were included.

Currently, my former partner is inundating my phone with messages, hurling insults at me, calling me a terrible person over it, and claiming I still owe them money.

AITA?

Incredible! That’s exactly what he requested.
