Vice President JD Vance
on Thursday defended President
Donald Trump
His assertion that children will
just have to deal
With fewer dolls due to his tariffs, he offers parents an outrageous alternative: The children might end up going to war.

“What I would ask individuals is not about how many dolls—whether two, five, or even 20—they desire for their children,” Vance stated to
Fox News
’
Martha MacCallum
.
I’d inquire of American mothers and fathers… If hypothetically, heaven forbid, your nation were to go to war and your child was deployed to combat, wouldn’t you prefer knowing that their equipment consists of reliable products manufactured in America rather than something produced by an opposing foreign entity?
Vance, who steered away from the doll discussion by pointing out that children’s prescription medications might become more accessible at American drugstores, highlighted that Trump’s focus was on “restoring self-sufficiency” to the U.S. economy.
“And that won’t occur instantly, and it might not always be simple, Martha,” he mentioned earlier in the show.
Vance’s remarks follow closely on the heels of those made by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessentin.
mentioned to Fox News’ Laura Ingraham
He told a little girl who had fewer dolls that she and her family would enjoy a “better life” and achieve “economic freedom” because of Trump.

Earlier this week, Mattel — the company behind Barbie dolls and various other best-selling toys —
stated that it will increase prices
On certain items in the US because of increased expenses connected to Trump’s tariffs.
