Even with the advancements made, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott stated that it is still premature to claim success.

“Continuing our efforts is essential. Now is not the moment to rejoice; rather, it’s an opportunity to recognize our advancements yet also comprehend the journey that brought us this far and commit even further resources to it,” stated Scott.

For Scott, this involves supporting local organizations such as LifeBridge Health and ROCA. Additionally, he backs the Baltimore Peace Movement, an entity established in 2017. Known officially as Baltimore Ceasefire, this group aims at inspiring individuals to embrace peace and cherish their lives.

“So that’s all about teaching people the skills they need when they’re in conflict, and offering mediation and conflict coaching so people can actually sit down, resolve their conflicts, and do that without anybody getting hurt or going to jail,” said Erricka Bridgeford, who works for the Baltimore Peace Movement.

This weekend, Baltimore Peace Movement is hosting several events encouraging people to be peaceful and celebrate life. The weekend will include rallies, neighborhood cleanups and sacred space rituals.

Scott stated that violence intervention organizations play a crucial role in reducing violent crime.
