The Cleveland Browns were expected to select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders early in the NFL Draft this year. Everybody is familiar with the narrative.
Apparently, Sanders experienced a significant drop in his draft status following the NFL Scouting Combine and due to accepting only a few pre-draft meetings with various teams.
Not only did Sanders make it all the way to the fifth round earlier this month, but he ultimately got selected by the very team expected to pick him within the top 10—the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders wasn’t the initial quarterback picked by Cleveland during the draft broadcast, but he certainly stood out as the most noteworthy.
When discussing maximizing a later round pick, seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady has ample authority to talk with assurance.

and gave Shedeur some counsel.
Thus, no one has an idea. In fact, I messaged Shedeur since we’re quite close,
Brady said.
“And I responded, ‘ Seriously, no matter what occurs or where you end up going, that will be considered as your first day. The second day holds greater importance compared to the drafting process. Since I was selected with the 199th pick, who would know this reality better than myself—what those initial days truly signify.”
Let it be your drive. You’ll get your opportunities, make sure to seize them.
When Shedeur was playing for Jackson State and inked an NIL agreement with Tom Brady’s brand, he connected with Brady. This association persisted even after Sanders moved to Colorado following his renowned football dad, Deion, becoming the head coach there.
Brady mentioned he recalled an additional draft presentation from 2005 that could have inspired another highly successful NFL quarterback.
“I recall when people discussed Aaron Rodgers’ sliding technique, mentioning how he moved down to being the 21st selection in the first round or something similar. I thought to myself, ‘Hey man, you’re the 21st pick in the first round. They must still consider you quite talented. You remain an exceptional player; after all, you’re one of just 32 first-round picks annually in the NFL.’ Use this as inspiration,” he stated. “Regardless of where you land, success depends on your performance once you arrive since getting there is inevitable.”
Brady emphasized, “He needs to appear daily since, being a quarterback, one must take on a leadership role. To me, a leader means caring for their teammates and being dedicated to our shared objectives.”
Sanders could establish his own identity, separate from his well-known father and mentor, by making the most of what initially seemed like a difficult position during the NFL Draft.
