has announced the Costume Institute’s forthcoming spring 2025 exhibition.
“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
The exhibit is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book from 2009,
Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Presentation of Black Diasporic Identity.
The exhibition at the museum will showcase “clothing, artworks, photos, and much more—all examining the enduring fashion sense of Black men within the realm of dandies, spanning from the 18th century to today.”

This occasion will be notable as the first since “Men in Skirts” from 2003 where the Costume Institute presents an exhibition solely dedicated to men’s fashion. Miller, who authored the book that inspired “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will act as guest curator along with Bolton.
