A tour bus filled with children caught fire completely near Moab on Friday morning because of a mechanical problem, as stated by the Utah Highway Patrol. Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident.
The tour bus, coming from the vicinity of Denver, had approximately 36 kids onboard who were partaking in a camping excursion. This information comes from Lt. Cameron Roden at UHP. The accident took place just after 9:30 a.m. on State Route 191.
Apparently, the driver detected a mechanical problem with the bus and promptly moved to the shoulder of the road. Following this, the driver instructed all the children on board to exit the vehicle safely.

Soon afterward, the bus burst into flames and was completely consumed by fire. According to Roden, the tour bus was destroyed beyond repair.
The Grand County School District has dispatched a bus to convey the children to a nearby junior high school. It appears that the tour bus company has also sent an additional vehicle to collect them at the school and bring them back to the Denver region.
SR-191 was closed following the accident but has since resumed operations. There have been no reports of injuries.
There is no additional information available at present.
