Mercedes-Benz unveiled its inaugural luxury van concept at an event in Shanghai, China. This cutting-edge design builds upon the legacy of the V-Class and Vito, aiming squarely at the high-end electric van sector. Given that Shanghai hosts one of the biggest markets globally for these types of vehicles, it serves as a perfect venue for introducing this new model.
The Vision V marks an important step for Mercedes-Benz with the introduction of their new VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) platform. As a cornerstone, this model will pave the way for various electric vans spanning from upscale to business-oriented versions, thereby solidifying Mercedes-Benz’s leadership role in the electric van sector.
The concept car Vision V warrants recognition because it was crafted using Mercedes-Benz’s innovative electric vehicle architecture known as VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture). This serves as the foundation for an array of forthcoming model variations. Whether aimed at luxury consumers or designed for commercial use, this pioneering electric van series kicks off with the Vision V.
The Vision V offers remarkable specs that establish fresh standards within the electric delivery vehicle market. Boasting an impressive WLTP-certified range of 700 kilometers (435 miles), it surpasses every contemporary electric van available today. This model includes advanced Level 3 self-driving technology, which could be easily enhanced to support Level 4 autonomy later on. Inside, the lavish cabin highlights a massive 65-inch screen, a high-end audio setup featuring 42 speakers, seven built-in projectors, along with a vast glass roof, transforming the space into either a productive work environment or an engaging leisure area for riders.
Based on an enhanced V-Class chassis, the Vision V has dimensions of 5.486 meters (216 inches) long, 2.10 meters (82 inches) wide, and 1.89 meters (174 inches) tall. Manufacturing will take place at Mercedes-Benz’s facility in Vitoria, Spain, with plans to initially sell it in European markets and China prior to a worldwide release. It is anticipated that the manufactured version will be called the Mercedes-Benz VLS.
Mercedes-Benz presents the Vision V not merely as a mode of transport, but as a Mobile Private Lounge. This innovative vehicle allows occupants to partake in numerous activities during transit, merging luxurious travel with efficiency and amusement.
