MS Dhoni Aims for 2010 Revival in 2025: Can CSK Bounce Back? “It’s Only a Matter…”

The Chennai Super Kings find themselves at the very bottom of the points table, and their chances look bleak as they vie for a spot in the playoffs. With just eight games played so far, things aren’t looking promising for this five-time champion team.

They’ve only managed to secure two victories so far and appear ill-prepared for the rapid pace of T20 international cricket, particularly when chasing totals above 180. Their weak batting lineup and excessive dependence on Shivam Dube for crucial strikes in the middle overs have exacerbated their difficulties.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan acknowledged that their performance in cricket has been subpar recently. However, he continues to have faith.

‘s batting prowess to flip the script for them during the latter part of the league phase.

“Each one of you might feel somewhat let down by CSK’s performance this season. This was expected; after all, similar situations occurred previously. It’s clear that our cricket isn’t up to par right now. However, we’re hopeful that future games will see improvement. With players like Shivam Dube joining us—someone who consistently performs well—and leaders such as Thala guiding the team, success is just around the corner,” stated Kasi Viswanathan at an event held in Chennai.

This move has also thinned out their batting lineup. Consequently, the team management has begun providing opportunities to young players such as Ayush Mhatre and Shaik Rasheed.

CSK needs to replicate the magic from 2010.

Viswanathan hopes the present squad will draw motivation from their 2010 performance. Back then, following five consecutive losses, things mirrored the situation they face now; however, Dhoni spurred them to recover and clinch their first championship.

“Certainly, we recall the year 2010. Our streak included losing five consecutive games before going on to clinch the trophy. It marked our initial victory for the championship. I have no doubt that the players are dedicated. The entire squad is devoted. I’m confident that we’ll deliver improved displays in the next fixtures,” he concluded.

MS Dhoni along with his team will next go up against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where both sides aim to secure two points to revitalize their campaigns.
