Trump Taps Giuliani’s Son for Key Sports Role

At an event hosted at the White House with the group, Trump commended Giuliani, stating that he is highly qualified for his new position.

“He will excel. I have known him for many years. He is an exceptionally skilled golfer and a fiercely competitive individual who truly enjoys our endeavors,” Trump stated.

The president additionally took the time to mention the senior Giuliani, his previous personal attorney and the former Mayor of New York City, who encountered legal issues due to his attempts to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election for Trump.

“I want to commend you, your family, and particularly your distinguished father, who holds the title of the finest mayor in the annals of New York City,” Trump stated.

Trump also named FIFA adviser and former president of the United States Soccer Federation Carlos Cordeiro as a senior adviser to the task force.

Giuliani previously served as a special assistant to Trump and associate director of the Office of Public Liaison during Trump’s first term in office. He also ran for New York governor in 2022 but finished second behind then-Rep. Lee Zeldin in the GOP primary.

The U.S. will co-host the event alongside Mexico and Canada.

JD Vance joked
regarding the possible deportation of tourists visiting the U.S. for the event.
