PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) – The Pearl Fire Department has verified that an individual died as a result of a house fire.
This incident happened on Tuesday around 9 p.m. on Upper Drive.
Pearl Fire mentioned that they were informed two individuals were inside the residence when the fire broke out.
The initial resident was evicted from the property by Pearl Police officers and sustained slight injuries.
The individual was transported to a nearby medical facility.
Search and rescue operations commenced for the second individual, who was located at the rear of the house; however, this person did not survive due to their injuries.
A person who saw what happened, a relative of those affected, was present at the location and shared their account.
WLBT News
on Tuesday that the person who died was an 86-year-old man. The witness also said that the other person was the man’s wife, however, none of those details have been confirmed by authorities.
The identities of the two people were not released, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
