During the IPL 2025 megaauction, Rathore was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 30 lakh. He became part of the team’s roster as one of the three wicketkeeper-batsmen, alongside captain Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel.
Who’s that IPL player?
Prior to making his Indian Premier League (IPL) appearance, Rathore had solidified his position in local cricket circuits. In 12 Twenty20 games for Rajasthan, he accumulated 254 runs with an impressive average of 36.28 and a striking rate of 138, which included one fifty. Additionally, he featured in 15 first-class fixtures and 16 One Day Matches, thereby enhancing his image as a multi-faceted cricketer.
A devotee of the South African cricketer Quinton de Kock, Rathore frequently points to him as his source of motivation, appreciating both de Kock’s batting prowess and wicketkeeping abilities. Despite this admiration, Rathore’s path to becoming a professional player wasn’t straightforward since Kota is more recognized for its academic establishments rather than fostering a strong cricket environment.
Even though his parents initially opposed his choice, insisting he concentrate on academics, Rathore’s dedication to the sport ultimately won their backing.
