Many children fail to grasp the outcomes of what they do.
All they want to do is play.
This woman
kept being disturbed by children playing in her driveway.
She doesn’t want the responsibility if someone gets injured, so she requested they leave her property.
Now she’s questioning who truly bears the blame in this situation.
Please read the complete story below.
Excuse me for asking children to leave my property?
My driveway is exceptionally lengthy.
The final third of it has quite a nice downhill slope.
The other day, I spotted some neighborhood children right inside my property close to my garage.
They spun their electric car toy around to head downwards via the inclined driveway at high speed.
I instantly asked them to leave my property.
The woman found herself awake with children frolicking in her driveway.
Early this morning, before 7 AM, I was awakened by my children yelling as loud as they could.
They were playing on the inclined section of the driveway that leads directly into the street.
They did this also the day before.
She instructed the kids to head over and play in their driveway instead.
I verified with the city yesterday that this is indeed my property, and as such, I would be responsible if someone were to get injured.
This morning when I opened the front door, I kindly asked them to move and play in their own driveway.
She understands she would be responsible if anybody ends up getting injured.
Worse still, their mother witnessed this unfolding.
I would have been sent into outer space if I had played on someone else’s property when I was young.
I work in insurance.
Even without giving permission to be on my property, I could still be held responsible if someone got injured.
She’s uncertain if making them go was the correct choice.
The driveway is classified as an attractive nuisance.
It leans at an angle, and they’re drawn to it because it allows them to exclaim, “Weeeee!”
To steer clear of any legal issues, I must ask them to depart each time uniformly.
So, AITA?
He really needs to discuss this with the kids’ guardians.
