Earlier this week, CorePower Yoga, a popular yoga studio brand, invited us to take a fun yoga sculpt class with renowned gymnast Jordan Chiles in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and learn how they support their member community
all month long.
Don’t be misled; the yoga sculpt class at CorePower Yoga goes beyond being just another standard yoga session. It blends intense physical activity with conventional yoga postures using weights to enhance muscle toning and flexibility. Whether you’re savoring delectable treats from the renowned Los Angeles eatery Erewhon or enjoying rejuvenating Red Light Therapy facemask treatments at Higher Dose, this dynamic yoga class—which elevated both heart rates and stretches—alongside an insightful discussion with Chiles left many attendees, myself included, feeling satisfied and invigorated.
It’s clear why this approach works since a new research revealed that 59% of individuals engaging in yoga experienced less depression after attending hot yoga sessions once a week over an eight-week period. “At CorePower Yoga, we emphasize strength and calmness, which aligns perfectly with what I am currently focused on,” explains Chiles. She continues, “I aim to demonstrate to others, particularly fellow athletes, that taking time to slow down and connect inward can be incredibly potent.” Furthermore, she notes, “Your physical well-being depends heavily on mental health; without a sound mindset, your body will suffer too. Learning to pause regularly and maintain inner tranquility has been crucial for me.”
In addition to appointing Jordan Chiles as their Mental Health Ambassador, CorePower Yoga is providing complimentary access to their 31-Day Mindfulness Journey for members. All they need to do is download the CorePower app and embark on this month-long adventure aimed at fostering mindfulness, self-confidence, purposeful living, and individual development.
For Chiles, her belief in the benefits of wellness routines such as CorePower Yoga stems from taking care of oneself comprehensively. “The exciting aspect of incorporating CorePower yoga is how it brings mental and physical resilience together, allowing you to release whatever needs to be let go—whether it’s anger, stress, or anything else,” she explains.
Chiles goes on to say, “The most significant aspect for me was discovering what self-care truly meant. Athletes often focus on others rather than themselves. It also became clear to me that my sport does not dictate my identity.”
Regarding her passion for CorePower Yoga, it revolves around the chance to vary her usual regimen. “Outside of the gym, I prefer staying active yet maintaining a relaxed pace. I enjoy engaging in core exercises, gentle strength workouts, and stretches. The aspect I appreciate most about CorePower classes is their integration of both physical exercise and mindful practices. These sessions help enhance both my physical endurance and mental toughness—vital qualities when performing competitively. Yoga allows me to relax, take deep breaths, and simply decelerate. Since I’m constantly rushing, taking time to listen to my body becomes crucial. Additionally, yoga aids in boosting concentration and enhancing flexibility, factors that also benefit my gymnastics,” she explains to Sazua.com.
Chiles goes on to say, “For me, it’s all about finding activities beyond our daily routines and shaking up our habits slightly. Engaging in new experiences refreshes me and aids in staying present, which makes me feel more assured as I move forward with my subsequent practices.”
